Your Questions, Answered

Sliding Windows FAQs

Can I customize my sliding windows?

Absolutely! You have the option to select from a wide range of colors and our 2- or 3-lite configurations to design a sliding window that fits beautifully with your home.

Are sliding windows durable?

The vinyl frames and sashes are designed to resist chipping, peeling, cracking, or warping. Crafted from durable virgin vinyl (PVC) powder, their color is embedded throughout, ensuring that their stunning shine endures over time.

Could sliding windows lower my energy bill?

Yes. Window World of Long Beach sliding windows are designed for energy efficiency and year-round performance. The multi-chambered sash and mainframe create insulating air spaces for superior thermal efficiency, plus they feature ENERGY STAR-rated insulating glass packages.

Will my purchase be protected by a warranty?

Yes. All windows from Window World of Long Beach are protected by the industry’s strongest lifetime warranty.

What is a sliding window?

Also known as slider windows, sliding windows have sashes that can slide open or closed. Sashes on sliding windows are designed to move back and forth horizontally, unlike double hung windows, which have sashes that move up and down vertically.

How do you clean sliding windows?

To effectively clean sliding windows, start by removing both window sashes. Here’s how to do it:

  • Begin by sliding the sash towards the opposite side until there’s a gap of roughly 3 inches.
  • Next, lift the sash as high as it will go.
  • Then, pull the bottom of the sash inwards towards you to detach it from the rail.
  • Gently lower the right sash to the floor for cleaning.
  • Repeat the process by sliding the next sash towards the opposite side, again leaving about a 3-inch gap.
  • Lift this sash as high as it can go.
  • Pull the bottom of the sash inward towards you and remove it from the rail.
  • Carefully lower this sash to the floor as well, where it can be cleaned.

How do you put a sliding window back in its frame?

Reinstalling a sliding window sash is easier than it might seem. To correctly place your sliding window sashes back into their frames, follow these instructions:

  • Begin by lifting the top of the outer window sash until it rests in the outermost track (the one facing outside). Maintain upward pressure as you position the bottom of the sash into the lower track.
  • Then, take the top of the inner window sash and insert it into the upper track on the inside of the frame. While keeping upward pressure, gently push the bottom section of the inner sash into the lower track until it is firmly secured.

How do you measure sliding windows?

When it comes to replacing your windows, it’s essential to have a professional perform the measurements prior to making any purchases. However, if you’re keen on measuring sliding windows yourself, follow these steps:

  • Carefully remove the sliding window sashes from the frame and set them down safely on the ground or another secure location.
  • Start by measuring the width of your window frame, specifically the distance between the jambs on either side.
  • Then, measure the height of the window at its narrowest point.
  • Lastly, determine the window depth by measuring the gap between the outer and inner window stops.

I am very pleased with my windows and the crew that put them in. The windows replaced old ones that were 70+ years old. Wow what a difference!!! The 3 man crew that put them in were timely, kind, worked hard and cleaned up when finished. I have already recommended Window World to a friend.
